We Meet You for Coffee. Here’s Why.

We asked Matt:

How do you like to meet business owners?

For Matt, the best business relationships don’t begin in a boardroom. Before any proposals, presentations, and technology discussions, he asks a simple question: “Want to grab a coffee?”

“Coffee is usually the choice simply because it’s the start of the day,” he explained. “You get away from the website, you get away from the slicks, the brochures.”

The meeting isn’t about making a sale in an hour. It’s about getting to know the person behind the business.

A Personable Conversation Instead of a Sales Pitch

Over the course of an hour, Matt learns why someone started their business, where they hope to take it, and what led them to contact Teqworks.

In turn, they learn why he started the company and the values that guide its work.

“We’re the people who can do the technology,” Matt explained, “but we can build the personal relationships, show empathy, listen, talk, be the people.”

The goal isn’t to close a deal in an hour—it’s to determine whether the relationship makes sense for everyone involved.

Taking the time to build trust early helps prevent friction later and lays the foundation for a stronger working relationship.

These conversations often uncover needs, concerns, and expectations that might otherwise take weeks to surface.

“Sitting down for that hour…to actually build a relationship when you’re communicating needs, wants, questions, concerns — you break all that down in person.”

One Last Sip

For Matt, the foundation of a great working relationship isn’t built through a sales pitch.

Technology can come later.

A cup of coffee gives both sides a chance to step away from the sales process, get to know one another, and decide whether they’re the kind of people who want to work together.

Let’s Talk.

A real conversation between people, over coffee or your preference.
